This is the first of a monthly series. Instead of guessing at the NI jobs market, we count what's actually live on NIjobsearch and tell you who's hiring, where, and in what kind of work. Every number below comes from our own listings on 27 September 2026. Jobs open and close every day, so treat the counts as a snapshot rather than a forecast.
This month at a glance: 364 live jobs from 113 employers and recruiters. About half (184) are in Belfast. The rest are spread across 45 other towns and villages, from Larne and Dungannon to Enniskillen and Coleraine.
Where the Jobs Are
Belfast is still the biggest single market, but it isn't the whole story. These are the towns with the most live roles outside the city:
| Town | Live jobs | What's there |
|---|---|---|
| Belfast | 184 | Finance, tech, legal, retail, admin |
| Newtownabbey | 19 | Facilities, construction, finance |
| Ballymena | 14 | Motor trade, transport, production |
| Larne | 11 | Manufacturing and engineering |
| Lisburn | 10 | Hospitality, retail, admin |
| Coleraine | 9 | Production and manufacturing |
| Bangor | 9 | Retail, healthcare, apprenticeships |
| Derry~Londonderry | 9 | Driving, retail, manufacturing |
| Dungannon | 9 | Engineering and maintenance |
| Newtownards | 8 | Hospitality, retail, financial services |
Larne and Dungannon stand out for their size. Both have a cluster of manufacturing and engineering roles: CNC machinists, welders, electrical fitters and service engineers. If you have a trade and don't want to commute into Belfast, they're worth a look.
The Busiest Sectors
- Operations (94 jobs): the biggest group by far. It covers delivery driving, warehouse work, logistics and site operations.
- Finance (46): accounts assistants, payroll, management accountants and banking roles, mostly in Belfast.
- Sales (44) and customer service (41): retail floor, trade counter, telesales and account management.
- IT (37): mostly Belfast-based, from support desks to cloud architecture.
- Manufacturing (21) and healthcare (16) round out the top groups.

How to Use This
Look beyond Belfast. Half of this month's jobs are outside the city, and competition is often lower. If you're flexible on location, the town pages above are the quickest way in.
Driving and warehouse work is the easiest door in. It's the largest group of live jobs, and many roles need little more than a full licence. See every one on our driving and warehouse jobs page.
