We are urgently seeking an Assistant Accountant to work for our well known client based in Belfast. This is a full time permanent position for an award winning company and a great opportunity to further your career.
The Role – Assistant Accountant
The successful candidate will report to the Accountant and will be responsible for providing support as a key member of our Financial Reporting & Planning team. With a positive attitude and willingness to learn, you will be given every opportunity to acquire new skills and gain a valuable, working knowledge of the finance department in one of Ireland’s most successful companies.
This position will suit a highly motivated individual who enjoys working within a fast paced team environment.
This is a varied role that includes (but is not limited to) the key responsibilities below,
Principal Responsibilities for Assistant Accountant
Preparation of monthly financial reconciliations
Preparation and posting of accounting journals
Assist in Accounts Receivable tasks
Create purchase orders
Participate in testing new financial reports and applications
Assist in the production of management reports for the Board
Provide assistance and support during internal and external audits, liaising with auditors as required
Customer account and Billing system analysis and interrogation
There is scope to develop and shape this role over time depending on the individual’s capabilities.

This Assistant Accountant will be based in our newly refurbished offices in Belfast which boasts free coffee/tea and kitchen facilities, along with soft rooms for informal meetings and a recreational area for break times.
The successful candidate will be enrolled into the Company Pension Scheme with an employer contribution of up to 6%, and will also avail of 20 days holiday per year progressing to a maximum of 25 days plus 11 statutory holidays. 3 A-Levels, Grades A*- C, or equivalent
IATI qualified or equivalent
Excellent numerical and analytical skills with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner
High level of proficiency in the use of MS Office applications including strong knowledge of MS Excel,
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
The ability to pick up and learn new skills quickly
Experience working within the Utilities sector
Experience working within a Finance Department or using a Financial Accounting System
