About the Role
Our client is a well-established and respected freight forwarding and logistics provider, delivering bespoke transport solutions throughout the UK, Ireland, Europe and worldwide. Combining the expertise and customer-focused approach of a long-standing local business with the resources of a growing logistics group, they continue to provide exceptional service across a diverse customer base.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Freight Forwarder to join their busy Belfast operation.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a freight forwarding professional looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing shipments from start to finish, ensuring customers receive a seamless and efficient service while supporting the wider operations team.
You will be responsible for coordinating freight movements across road, sea and air, building strong customer relationships, and ensuring the smooth delivery of logistics solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage international and domestic freight shipments from booking through to final delivery.
- Coordinate road, sea and air freight movements, ensuring all customer requirements are met.
- Liaise with customers, shipping lines, hauliers, carriers and overseas agents.
- Prepare and process all relevant import and export documentation.
- Provide customers with regular updates and exceptional levels of service.
- Obtain competitive rates and prepare quotations for customers.
- Monitor shipments and proactively resolve any operational issues or delays.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure internal systems are updated correctly.
- Build and develop strong relationships with customers, suppliers and logistics partners.
- Support and mentor junior team members where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company procedures.
About You
To be considered for this role, you should possess:
- Proven experience within a freight forwarding environment.
- Strong knowledge of international freight operations and logistics processes.
- Experience coordinating road, sea and/or air freight shipments.
- Sound understanding of import/export documentation and customs procedures.
- Excellent communication and customer relationship management skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to negotiate rates and identify cost-effective solutions.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
Previous experience in a Senior Freight Forwarder, Freight Operations, Import/Export Coordinator, Logistics Coordinator or Supervisory Freight role is essential
