About the Role

Ready to take the lead on an Ocean Freight operation and turn opportunity into growth? This is a senior role for an experienced Ocean Freight Manager who can combine operational leadership with commercial drive, growing volumes, developing customer relationships and shaping the next phase of an established logistics operation in Northern Ireland.

Location: County Antrim - Based onsite this role is commutable from Ballymena, Antrim, Newtownabbey, Ballyclare, Ballynure, Crumlin, Carrickfergus, Lame, Lisburn, Belfast and surrounding areas.

What will you be doing?

• Taking ownership of ocean freight import and export operations across global trade lanes, ensuring strong service levels, operational performance and customer satisfaction.
  
  
• Driving container volumes, revenue and profitability by identifying new markets, sectors and commercial opportunities.
• Building and strengthening customer relationships while actively developing new business opportunities.
• Negotiating rates, contracts and service agreements with shipping lines, carriers and overseas partners to support competitive and profitable solutions.
• Working closely with Customs and Compliance colleagues to ensure smooth clearance and adherence to international trade requirements.
• Leading, coaching and developing the ocean freight team, while keeping up to date with market trends, carrier developments and emerging opportunities.

What you’ll bring...

• Strong experience within commercial ocean freight forwarding, with solid knowledge of international import and export markets.
• A proven track record of developing customer relationships and winning new business.
• Strong understanding of freight pricing, carrier management and shipping line negotiations.
• Dangerous Goods certified/trained, with a good understanding of IMDG regulations, customs procedures and international trade compliance.
• Previous leadership and people management experience, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
• Experience creating tailored supply chain solutions and identifying ways to improve customer operations; multimodal freight experience would be advantageous.
