Company Accountant (Contract)

• Annual Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 (FTE)
• Location: Belfast
• Job Type: Full-time, 6 Month Contract, Office Based

Join our growing retail client as their Company Accountant, where you will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of our Group's financial operations during a period of transition. Reporting directly to the Financial Director, this position is based in their head office in Belfast, offering a structured weekday schedule from 9.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in managing financial systems and improving organisational processes.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for operational management.
• Manage all journals and final GL balances, including reviewing month-end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Group’s accounting records and financial systems.
• Produce statutory accounts for the various companies within the division as required
• Prepare budgets and forecasts, continuously monitoring and reviewing performance against them to robustly report variances.
• Actively manage overheads while seeking out areas for efficiencies and savings.
• Ensure timely submissions and payments of VAT returns, complying with all relevant regulations.
• Liaise with various departments to ensure the Finance department supports the needs of the Division effectively.
• Liaise with auditors, tax advisers, brokers, bankers, and other parties as directed by the Financial Director.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
• Excellent communication skills and a strong team player.
• High attention to detail with a drive to deliver continuous improvement.
• Competent in the use of Excel and other accounting software.
