Service Manager

 

Job Outline:

You will be an integral part of an established team that works predominantly on the client’s site, which is a major Retail Shopping Centre.  Your role as the Service Manager will be wide ranging and will require you to be experienced with all aspects of managing a service contract of this nature.  You will be required to ensure that departmental service level agreements and KPI’s are met while operating within the framework of the contract.

You will have experience and familiarity in a building management system to include all aspects of fire suppressive systems, alarm panels and shopping centre evacuation processes. In addition you should have a working knowledge of mechanical and electrical processes to include heating and ventilation, lighting and air conditioning systems.

You will have responsibility for the performance of the security and guarding solution that we provide right across the client’s business premises and associated facilities (including customer car parking responsibilities).  As well as taking responsibility for all Health and Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures, including ISO9001 Procedures.

As a strong people manager you will work with your frontline team members, supervisor and client management team to ensure the effective deployment of resources on an ongoing basis.  You will play a key role in making sure that the teams are delivering excellent service on a day to day basis whilst ensuring that all aspects of the client contract are effectively being managed.  An ongoing requirement will be the management of a number of HR policies in an effective way with experience of resource scheduling, leave & absence management, time keeping management, performance review management and  the disciplinary management process.

You will also need to have an excellent knowledge of this sort of Retail & Shopping complex and be able to manage and co-ordinate a number of different requirements linked to technical equipment, facilities & plant equipment, food court services, secure delivery yard & storage areas etc.  Have experience of working with 3rd party contractors who may be required to work on or around the site whilst ensuring that there are no security risks or associated H&S risks resulting from this activity.

As part of the management team there will be a need for you to actively promote the importance and values of effective communication throughout the place of work and promote Environmental / Quality / H&S good practice, compliance and continuous improvement. The job role will extend to all aspects of service delivered by G4S including but not restricted to guarding, CCTV monitoring and car parking services management.

In addition to this you will need to be computer literate, able to produce reports and complete numerous administrative tasks to ensure all deadlines and deliverables are met.  You will need to be an effective communicator and someone who can manage numerous different tasks and challenges within a fast paced environment.  Your ability to manage and cope with unplanned issues or events will also be key to you being successful in the job.  There will be ongoing reviews (linked to an annual financial bonus) and audits that you will take ownership of. And from time to time you may need to effectively delegate out tasks linked to these ongoing requirements.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities Service Manager

 

  • To manage the building management systems and resources to meet daily service schedules and business requirements for the services within the prescribed budget.
  • To liaise with client and offering advice and knowledge regarding service issues ensuring contractual and service obligations are met.
  • To develop and maintain an effective working relationship so that Client needs are understood and the company reputation enhanced.
  • To lead and develop the G4S security team to meet operational and business needs in a customer focused manner.
  • To support the team in continually reviewing operational procedures to maximise customer satisfaction.
  • Develop & support positive team ethos within the working group
  • Ensure that resources in the employed teams are managed to ensure contractual obligations are met, (eg management of annual leave, absence and performance).
  • To manage staff induction, training, and performance reviews of direct reports to ensure they are competent to meet the contractual requirements.
  • To manage effective financial forecasting so that department budgets are achieved.
  • To collate, analyse and review information i.e. budgets, roster hours and forecasts in order to monitor and report on performance. Attendance of meetings as required.
  • To continually audit and review service areas to ensure high standards and costs are achieved to drive though efficiencies and improvements to maximise customer satisfaction.
  • To comply to the policies and procedures of G4S & The Quays Shopping Centre including: Fire, Health and Safety, Accidents, Security, Infection Control, Complaints, Confidentiality.
  • Undertake hands on duties as & when required to achieve team goals.

 

Essential Skills:

 

  • Excellent Organisational skills
    • Good communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to handle issues of high sensitivity
  • 2-3 years experience working at a Middle Management level in a fast moving services environment
  • 2- 3 years’ broad management experience within a similar customer

 

Desireable

  • Understanding of contract

  • Resilient and able to work well on own initiative while under pressure, meeting tight deadlines while balancing a number of priorities
